Town of Columbia Mayor

Hannah Cummings Springer

Mayor Springer served the town as alderman from 2016 -2022, until elected to fill the mayoral seat vacated by former mayor Richard Meredith.  She grew up in Caldwell Parish, but moved into her father’s childhood home downtown in September of 2009.  During her time as alderman, Springer created the town’s first Farmers Market, voted to upgrade the town’s water pumping system and water tower, and helped organize several clean-up efforts downtown.  As mayor, Springer has helped move town hall to a more modern, visible building on the main thoroughfare, US Highway 165.  The new building also serves the community as a visitor’s center and rest station.  Springer is also responsible for getting the town online for traffic and utilities payments.

Mayor Springer is only the second woman to serve Columbia as mayor.  The town became the first city in the state to elect a woman to that role in 1953, with the election of Mayor Lynn Alford.  Springer hopes to move Columbia forward well into the future, embracing our historic beauty, but always growing and changing to meet the needs of our wonderful citizens and visitors!  She is married to husband Matt.  They have two children, Larrah and Will.  Springer has been a teacher since 2006 and serves as her church’s music director, but has office hours at town hall every Monday and during summer break from school.
